On Thursday, November 20, 2025, The Isabella Nasya Foundation teamed up with Gauley River Elementary School, Cherry River Elementary School, and community members to provide twenty-five food boxes packed with non-perishable food items and treats to help families during Thanksgiving. This initiative gained urgency after government support for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Programs (SNAP) was suddenly cut earlier this month, coinciding with a government shutdown.
“We went to the teachers; they know what their kids need!” said Wendy Trillo, a foundation member, as volunteers prepared the bags for those families. Thanks to generous donations of money and non-perishable food from local churches, schools, and anonymous supporters, the project reached its goal.
After collecting items from the community, two other Board members purchased additional supplies from Walmart, Foodland, Food Lion, Dollar General, and Dollar Tree. Within three hours, all twenty-five boxes were ready.
Each family’s box contained: canned ham, instant mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, marshmallows, soups, margarine, ramen noodles, canned milk, drink mixes, water, pumpkin pie, and rolls.
Once everything was loaded into Mrs. Sigley's truck for delivery to her students at Cherry River Elementary, foundation member Courtney Nichols shared, “It’s awesome! Such a blessing to many. Thank you to all involved.”
The Isabella Nasya Foundation gratefully thanks everyone who donated their time, food, finances, or prayed for the project. Without the support of our local community, churches, schools and most importantly the good Lord above projects like this would remain ideas on paper and wouldn’t become reality.
